August is here and it is traditionally a very big month for traveling and vacations. Families have one last get away before the kids go back to school. Desert Schools is here to help their memers take that last great summer vacation. Get Away Today is your Disney Theme Park expert – whether you’re traveling to the Disneyland ® Resort in California or Walt Disney World ® Resort in Orlando, FL. A: FASTPASS Tickets are distributed at FASTPASS Distribution areas located near the attraction for which you are collecting a FASTPASS Ticket. FASTPASS Distribution Centers are generally themed like the attraction they represent and are clearly marked. FASTPASS Tickets are distributed by inserting your Disney ticket into the FASTPASS Ticket machine. The machine will scan your ticket, then return your Disney Ticket and present a FASTPASS Ticket. A: Once you receive your FASTPASS Ticket, you’ll notice that there is a return time printed on the bottom of your ticket. Ticket return times are assigned in hour long intervals, i.e. Return Time: 2pm – 3pm. Simply return to the attraction during your assigned time and look for the FASTPASS Return line – it is MUCH shorter than the regular line. There will be a Disney Cast Member to collect your FASTPASS Ticket. A: In order to keep the FASTPASS Return line short (and a benefit), some of the most popular attractions will run out of FASTPASS Tickets during the day. When the FASTPASS Tickets are gone, they’re gone. To make the most out of your time at any Disney Park, we recommend getting FASTPASS Tickets for your favorite attractions as early and as often as allowed. A: Yes and no. You cannot use your FASTPASS Ticket for any time before the return time printed on your ticket. If you can’t make it back to the attraction before your return time, you may use it any time after the last return time printed on your ticket, as long as it is used the same day. The only exception to this rule is if you have a FASTPASS for a show, such as World of Color. FASTPASS Tickets for shows must be used for the show they are assigned. This knowledge can really help you plan your day. A: There are a number of ways to see if an attraction offers a FASTPASS Ticket. Most of the really popular attractions will have FASTPASS Tickets available. You can check Disney’s website before traveling to check if a particular attraction has this option. When you enter a Disney Park, all FASTPASS attractions will be noted on the park map so you can plan out your day accordingly. The final way is to simply keep your eyes open while at the Park. If you happen to be near an attraction that has FASTPASS Tickets available, go ahead and grab one! A: There are a few things you can do to make your FASTPASS Tickets work for you. First, we recommend getting to the Park as early as possible. Get the FASTPASS for the ride you care about most first. If the wait time is short (I use 30 minutes or less during peak travel times as a general rule), then you will probably want to ride the attraction right then, and get your FASTPASS to come back later and ride again. You can keep collecting FASTPASS Tickets throughout the day even if you haven’t returned to the attractions during your return time. Basically, any time you can have a FASTPASS, get one! This will allow you ample time to enjoy Character Dining, relax at a parade, watch a show, and really maximize your time at the Parks. A: We highly recommend using a lanyard (like the lanyards that come with your Get Away Today vacation package) to keep your park tickets and FASTPASS Tickets together. If you’re traveling with children or a large group, it is easiest to have one person be your assigned FASTPASS carrier – that way you don’t have to wait for everyone to gather up all of their FASTPASS Tickets before you can go to the FASTPASS Return. If you don’t remember when your next FASTPASS Ticket will be available, you can go to any FASTPASS machine and enter your Disney Park ticket. If a FASTPASS is available, you’ll receive a FASTPASS. If it’s not time for your next FASTPASS, you’ll get a slip back that tells you when your next ticket will be available.
