PDEA-CAR reaches out to pupils in remote Benguet school
BAGUIO CITY, Aug. 4 (PIA)- - Pupils of Baguionas Elementary School in remote Gaswiling, Kapangan, Benguet, and their families were the beneficiaries of an outreach program initiated and coordinated recently by the Philippine Drug Enforcement AgencyCordillera Administrative Region (PDEA-CAR).
The program was highlighted by a gift-giving activity where 60 Project Aral Kits from the National Book Store consisting of notebooks, pencils, sharpeners, and erasers; numerous bottles of multi-vitamin and Vitamin C syrups, and slightly used books from the Order of DeMolay Baguio Chapter; and various school supplies, assorted books, and a basketball ball, and second-hand bags, clothes, shoes and toys from personal donations of PDEA CAR personnel and agent-trainees.
The Baguionas Elementary School can be reached through an eight-kilometer trek from the nearest place accessible to motorists via Bagulin, La Union.
The outreach program was a part of PDEA CARs celebration of the agencys 9th Foundation Anniversary with the theme: A drug-free country starts with a drug-free family. More importantly, it was a way of rewarding the barangay for being drug-free.
Before leaving, the PDEA CAR team composed of two drug law enforcement agents and eight agent-trainees reiterated to the residents never to let drug law violators enter their community, and to maintain their drug-free status.
